What to Do on the 4th of July in Summit County

Whether you're a local or just lucky enough to be visiting, the 4th of July in Summit County is one of the most fun-filled days of the summer. Each town brings its own flavor to the celebration; think parades, pancake breakfasts, mountain bike races, live music, and more. Here's your guide to what’s happening this Independence Day:

Breckenridge

Breckenridge knows how to throw a party. Start your morning with the Firecracker 50, a high-energy mountain bike race that rolls off Main Street just before the iconic 4th of July Parade. Grab a coffee and a good curb spot, this is a local favorite.
After the parade, stick around town for live music, family activities, and classic small-town charm. Breck typically wraps the day with concerts and community celebrations (note: no fireworks due to fire restrictions, but trust me, you won’t miss them).

Frisco

Frisco goes all in with small-town Americana vibes. Begin your day with the Team Summit Pancake Breakfast, then find your spot for the Main Street Parade; a favorite among families.
In the afternoon, catch live music on the street, explore the local shops, or head down to the Frisco Bay Marina for some lakeside lounging.

Copper Mountain

Looking for something a little different? Head to Copper for the Woodward 4th of July Rail Jam, where skiers and snowboarders show off tricks on snow...in July!
Stick around for the Red, White, Brews & Tunes event featuring live music and Colorado craft beer at high altitude. It's the perfect way to celebrate with mountain views in the background.

Silverthorne

Silverthorne keeps things a little more low-key, but no less beautiful. Bring a blanket and enjoy a performance from the National Repertory Orchestra at Rainbow Park, a morning of music with mountain peaks in the distance. There will also be family-friendly activities like a petting zoo, face painting, and more.

No Fireworks? No Problem.
Due to wildfire risk, most towns in Summit County opt for fire-free celebrations but between the parades, music, and community spirit, you won’t miss the sparks. The energy and beauty of summer in the mountains is more than enough.

Make the Most of Your 4th

Wherever you end up, the 4th of July in Summit County is all about connection, community, and celebrating where we live. Bring your bike, your camp chair, and your red-white-and-blue, this is one of the best days to be in the mountains.

Have a favorite 4th of July tradition up here? Let me know, I’m always looking for new spots to check out!
